Hey all so my question is in the title. I have been chasing a cold start tick for awhile now.
It happens every time the engine is started cold no matter if it's cooler or hotter outside. It goes away in about 30 seconds then is quiet. Some threads before say not to worry about it but Im not the type of person to not worry.
I change my oil every 3.5k miles on the dot.
I just changed my TPS and had my IAC cleaned and entire throttle body (lots of carbon). I thought cleaning out the throttle body would help somewhat with the ticking on cold start but it appears not.
I notice on cold starts that the oil pressure is pretty high (from oil not being warm?). I also notice that on first startup up my exhaust sputters for the first two seconds it is running (quickly returns to normal). Maybe a clogged CAT?
I wanted to try Seafoamor even Gumout to try to get rid of the rest of the carbon but I fear that it might have a lot provided that my throttle body had a lot. I dont want to clog anything removing massive amounts at once.
Could a lot of carbon also cause a startup tick? What else could cause it?
Thanks!

What causes a 4.0 to have a tick?
