I picked up a Zj for my daughter to use around town (turning 17). It's a 98 with the 4.0 auto, 180 on the clock. (Jeep profile is for my TJ)
Has the dreaded chocolate milk oil (got it for $500). Planning to do head gasket and was doing some reading up on it. I saw a post about checking the rod and crank bearings for wear. I don't know how much the jeep was run with the blown gasket, the PO was unaware until I pointed out the oil and explained it to them. Wanted some other opinions about what else to check. I have a spare 4.0 from a TJ I have that I can drop in if I need (now or later). I want to fix it right but not go overboard.
Thanks
