Newbie here. Great forum!
I just bought a Westin Safari bar for my stock '97 ZJ Laredo. I have the factory skid plate and tow hook package. The install instructions for the bar state that I need to remove the factory tow hooks.
I started on this after work yesterday. Sprayed the bolts with a good dose of rust prevention penetrating oil and let them sit for 10 mins. Then I started trying to remove the tow hooks with hand tools. -- that DID NOT work! DANG! these things are tight and on there good! The wrenches started to slip a couple of times, so I stopped before I rounded off the nuts and made a worse problem. It is highly likely that these bolts haven't ever been loosened since the ZJ was built at the factory.
Any tips to get these things off? I don't have an impact wrench or air tools. Should I just get a 1/2" socket drive and a cheater bar and put more leverage on them?
Any help is appreciated!!
