aTX427's custom 3-Link - front and rear

lundi 16 février 2015

Given the scope creep of my TJ Juggy build, I decided to take on a relatively simple 3-link upgrade to my JK. It's not intended to be the end-all / be-all of JK rock crawlers, but something I can drive out to some local spots with the kids or out to Moab take down some decent trails and drive home.

From a build standpoint, I am going to 3-link the from front and rear. I want a minimum of 12" travel (50% up) on a set of 37's. Component wise, I have a set of (4) 12" Bilstein 7100's, 1.25" shank Metalcloak Duraflex joints, Artec trusses, and brackets. I designed the system around my desired suspension geometry and will cut / fabricate whatever else I need. While I am there, I plan on completely upgrading the steering system with HD ball joints and 1-ton TRE's.

brass in the oil pan...

OK so this started 2 oil changes ago. I'm seeing brass in the oil. Nothing in the filter, but in the catch pan after an oil change it looks like I'm in the ukon panning for gold... What inside the 2004 4.0 is brass? Thrust washers....bearings...drive gears...? I would like to know what is is being eaten alive... Anyone have any ideas?

The oil pressure is normal as far as the gauge cluster is concerned. I'm running rotella T3 15-40 and have for the past 2 years. My entire drivetrain has 205k on it.

Anyone have any insight on this?

CJ7 what kind of brake is this???

Hello guys,

I just got a CJ-7, I have experience with TJ but im totally new to CJ and im totally lost about the brake pump/booster.

When I got the Jeep last Saturday I noticed that the jeep take too long to brake, like if you are hauling something, I thought that maybe is the style of brake system in this models. Yesterday I was checking the brake fluid reservoir and was full, today in the morning I found brake fluid in the driver floor and when press the brake surprise! is not working at all and i can see a leak inside if the driver area.

Well, im guessing that the brake pump/booster is damage and I was making research to buy it and replace it but now is when the confusion comes, everything I found have the reservoir and a round black part that goes directly to the chassis but mine dont have that. I found many retailers that claim "Brake Booster Upgrade". Means that I have kind an old/pump style and this brake booster is better? why?

because im not a mechanic, just an enthusiast and don't know the correct names of the parts plus my English is not the best im leaving the pictures here of what I have and what I found to buy.

If is an upgrade maybe with the upgrade the brake moment is going to be softer? maybe brake fast?

The part i have now looks pretty easy to replace, the booster should be easy too.

Thanks a lot in advance for any help.

1991 XJ Value

I'm looking at a 91 XJ, 2 door, 4.0 5 speed 4x4. I was wondering what it might be worth. It isn't optioned very well, but is on decent 33" BFG's, and is set up exactly like I'd order one. Manual windows, manual locks, etc. He did some body work (replaced a rusty rear floorpan), and painted it last year. Looks good. 170k miles. He's asking $2500. Is it worth that?

pistol mount?

Where do yall mount yal pistols in your yjs? I take my ccw out when driving and have it in the passenger seat when no one is with me (full doors and hard top on so no random person just opening my door o grab it and with the dark windows it's not visible anyways) and I keep it in my waistband when someone is riding with me or the top off. We don't have a conventional dash or center console so I was wondering where yall put them.
