The Infamous Clevis Bolt Drama..........Help!!!

dimanche 9 août 2015

Hey guys whats up, so I was going to replace my Lower Ball Joints and finish up my Modified OME lift. Sooooo As I was attempting to do the lower BJ's I could not get the Hub Assembly Off the CV Axle. I hammered and hammered and it wouldnt budge, and then yah I broke the CV axle at the joint.

So I had to go find myself a 3 Jaw Puller to get the hub off since nobody around here makes a 4wd Puller. And then I got it off. So then it was time to attempt to remove the CV axle.

I pulled and pulled, and used a small crow bar and pryed and still nothing. How Does anyone get this CV axle Out???????

Also Then I was like ****!! I need to get the Strut fork off to Install the new CV Axle. SO now I had to attempt to remove the Clevis Bolt...... I heated it up, Used grease, blaster, Impact gun that only rated upto 300lbs. I got it to spin, and spin more, then I had to flatten that tab, it spun some more, then siezed.

I hammered and hammered, still nothing, more heat, more impact and still nothing.

I was thinking of replacing the entire LCA, but even the Stupid bolt that holds the LCA to the Frame, in the front, is siezed. So I am not sure how to go about this and wehre to start....

I feel as if this was a Sandy Vechile and they got me, cuz so far everything on the front end is shot, rusted, and siezed!!! I will thank you guys ahead of time and hope we can get this done, truck is immobile as we speak.

-- Is the Strut fork Bushing Replaceable????

-- Can I just cut the Bolt and then remove the Bushing??

-- What other ways can I attempt to remove this??
