I could use some advise please about how to get my AMC 360 running well. The story is that I bought a renovated CJ7 with a 360 installed. It ran but would only run with the choke mostly on all the time. The seller said that the carb had been renovated (as had the engine but the timing and tuning had still to be done).
After I had got it home, further research gives me that the the carb is a two barrel Motorcraft 2100 and the tag id is D7TE DBA. This appears to have come out of a Ford Truck - which presumably had a Ford engine in it - so it would be fair to guess that the carb is not set up for, or jetted for the AMC 360?
So what is the best thing to do? In the long term I would like to fit injection but for now I would just like it to run ok.
So do I rebuild the carb with a kit for D7TE DBA, or buy another 2100 that was fitted on a Waggy or give up the 2100 and go for an Edelbrock or something similar? This CJ is only for street use or for the odd slope - nothing extreme! If this was your Jeep what would you do now?
p.s. I posted this in this forum since the CJ never had the 360 fitted as standard?
Many thanks in anticipation
