I'm brand new here, and could use some help!

jeudi 8 janvier 2015

Hey everyone, my name is Chris and I could really use some help/advice/technical expertise if anyone has any related to my issue which is this: The transfer case on my 99 Jeep Wrangler Sport (not sure which type of Wrangler it is) has completely busted.

We took it to a shop here near Austin, Texas and with a complete replacement, plus fluid, would be around 2600 dollars. That's a lot. So we thought maybe we can replace it ourselves. Here's where the hitch comes in. My father and I know very little about cars in general, let alone Jeeps. So we decided to come to you all, and see if you have any step by step guides, helpful tips etc.

We have a normal garage (versus one that is used to worked on cars all the time), we paid over 7 grand for it around October of '14, had to immediately replace the tires (another $1000) and have had to replace the battery and a few other things on it (better part of $500) plus this current problem! Is it even worth it to keep going this long on a jeep that can't even stay in working order for longer than a month at a time? Would it be easier just to sell it off for pieces? Any advice and help is greatly appreciated!
