Pretty much as written in the title. I recently got my '99 TJ running again after a couple year hiatus, and am working through some drivetrain and electrical issues.
Today, while out wheeling in the woods, I plugged my GPS unit into the cigar lighter/acc. socket. Immediately the GPS started cycling between its own internal battery and Jeep power. It's a Garmin, so every time the dash power would cut out, the Garmin asks if you want the unit to stay on (battery power) or shut off. The power cycling was pretty fast.
Eventually I tried it with engine off so I could hear. I hear a faint clicking of a relay, click click click, maybe once per second. Power fuse behind the glove box looks okay - which I assume is the one that powers this relay.
Is this just as simple as replacing a bad switching relay for the switched power to the lighter, or should I be looking in additional directions?
