Went out on Mineral Trail Rd yesterday (up by Eldora)and even though we had never been on it before, we had a write-up of it being an easy-going, family friendly adventure. Well, my trail maps showed not only single BLK diamond areas but DOUBLE BLK diamonds as well! We had a long discussion and decided to go forth. A couple of us had driven BLK diamond before but was hoping this time it wouldn't involved shelf roads. Well, we go to about 2mi. from the end of our trail when stuff got real! THEN it started sprinkling and we are, of course, sitting on a shelf road with a lot of slate and a few thousand ft drop to my left(I'm driving). I had to have a rider do her fantastically awesome task of walking ahead and spotting me so we didn't roll over the edge. HOW are trails like that considered family friendly?! You think little Timmy and Jenny will have a great picnic time on trails like that?! Hell! NONE of us wanted to look over the edge!! Hahahahahaha!!!
Any other local trails that are a little less terrifying with the shelf roads? The 505 was great up until that!!
