1992 Jeep Wrangler loss of power/sputtering/popping

mercredi 12 août 2015

I recently acquired a 92 Wrangler, (137,000mi). I've only had it for about a week. Long story short, this is what I have replaced.
-plugs
-wires
-distributor cap
-oxygen sensor
-fuel filter
-coil
-rotor
-throttle position sensor
-fuel pump relay

It smells like gas really bad, and sputters and I can barely get to 50mph in 3rd gear. It's like it is getting too much fuel? I've read about replacing the crankshaft position sensor and the distributor sensor. NOTE: The ECU last 3 digits is 828. The ECU of the original that isn't in it is 380 (it's fried). I read that the -828 ECU is for a 1995 Wrangler Automatic. Would this be the problem? It ran fine when I drove it home when I bought it, but when I had this trouble, the thing that finally got the Jeep to run was my friend re-soldered the capacitors on the -828 ecu and it started up, but has no power and hesitates. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
