I bought a 2003 WJ 2 months ago, and I just bought the Rough Country 4 inch long arm upgrade kit. I'm planning on using 6 inch Clayton springs and Bilstein shocks. I'll end up running 33 "s on 17 inch rims.
This is my only vehicle, so it is a daily driver. I want a good trail truck, and I don't trash my trucks off road.
I was at my friend's auto shop this week, and he showed me a Dana 30 high pinion front axle assembly that came out of a 2007 JEEP JK. He put an ARB locker in it a few months back with 4.88 Superior gears. I told him I wanted it, and we agreed on a price - $500.
The axle is complete except for front brakes and hubs - they took everything from the inner C's out off for the new JK axles.
I definitely want the ARB, and swapping out to a high pinion front axle is always a good idea, especially with a 6 inch lift in progress. The JK axle also has the U-joint axle shafts, so I'd be getting rid of my weaker CV axle.
The 4.88's are too low, but I was planning on re-gearing my stock WJ axles to 4.56 anyway, so no loss there.
My question is: Will my original hubs and brakes fit on the JK axle?
I know I have to change out the spring buckets, but that is easy.
Anything else?
Are there any write ups on this swap? I looked, but nothing came up.
