First jeep build

vendredi 28 août 2015

So I got my xj about one year ago and I couldn't wait to start modifying it. I'm just starting college this year so I probably won't be doing anything more to the jeep. I have only gotten to wheel it once at a Land Rover meet that a friend invited me to. The LR guys were upset when my mostly stock jeep on road tires beat their precious Land Rovers. I hope you enjoy my build.

First day I got my jeep I knew I had to make sure it would do everything I needed it to.

Soon after I installed a 3.5 Rubicon Express short arm lift kit. That was one of the tougher things I've had to do. After it was lifted I had to test out the flex. Needless to say I was pleased.

After lifting it I thought I was invincible but I quickly found out I was not. Luckily I had recently installed a set of front tow hooks. Without those I would have been in **** deeper than the mud I was in.

I decided I wanted to give the front of my jeep a new look so sent the bumper to a friend to weld up the ends of the bumper to make it look a little cleaner. The other jeep in the picture was a friend of mine who wanted to look like me while I had no bumper.

I finally got new tires for the jeep. They are General Grabber AT2's. 31x10.5x15. This past summer I took the jeep down to the Outer Banks. This was about a 7-8 hour drive and the jeep had no problem cruising at 70. The tires weren't too loud. I was very excited to drive it on the 4x4 beach.

That's how she sits today. The most recent mod I've done is cut and fold the rear lower quarter panels. Sorry I don't have a great picture of it. I added a roof rack for my bikes which just bolts to the factory crossbars. I also decided I would be smart to carry a full size spare now since the factory donut wasn't going to help. I just rachet strapped it in the trunk.

That's all the ascetic mods I've done. Hopefully there will be more in the future.
