Front Passenger door says its open

Hey everybody,

So two days ago (which was the last time I drove my WJ) I was driving around with no problems at all, but two times when I would go up a driveway the initial impact of going up would trigger the chime (the one that plays when you're low on gas ect). I thought nothing of it.

Today I went to go to lunch and my buddy got into the car and it said his door was open. I had him re-open and close his door and it still said the door was open, even though we were both certain that the door was closed. I got out to check from the outside and the door looked closed and I gave it a tug and it didn't open, so it's latching properly. But the overhead console always said that the door was open, all my lights stayed on because the car thought the door was open.

At lunch the car alarm went off for no reason. I can say that as we sat outside and I didn't see anybody mess with the car. Driving home the door still said it was open and the car kept locking and unlocking itself.

I haven't tried anything yet as I wanted to do some research to see what the problem might be.
