Intro (and I need your eyes).

vendredi 14 août 2015

Hey y'all. Quick and dirty intro - my name is Michael, but I go by my middle name, so Shane is what you can call me. Some people call me Capt., but that's only at work. I just picked up a '99 WJ a few months back and have been silently creeping through the threads since. Since I'm doing my first real project on The Unit next Friday, I figured I'd finally show my face.

After picking up The Unit, I did all of the typical new-used vehicle maintenance steps - oil change, tranny maintenance, cooling system flush, new plugs/boots, etc. Since the ol' girl needs new tie rods, I figured I'd address a bit of the suspension while I was going to be down there. So, here's the plan...

1. Replace all four springs for 2.5" front/2" rear longer springs from Fat Bob's Garage.
2. Replace all four shocks for Bilstein 5100s - the longer ones meant for a 2" lift.
3. Replace all eight spring isolators.
4. Repace steering stablizer for Rough Country's performance SS.
5. Replace inner and outer tie rods.
6. Replace front sway bar links.

I don't currently plan on going to 4" of lift, but who of us really knows what the future holds for anyone?

Question 1: Do any among you see anything that I'm missing, from a fairly thoroughly planned 2" lift? Anything I should think about replacing/modifying while I'm there? Anything conspiculously wrong with the above plan?

Question 2: The Bilsteins didn't come with bolts/nuts. Although I suspect under normal conditions it wouldn't matter, but I'm not one to risk reusing old hardware if I can avoid it. Anyone happen to know the bolt/nut sizing for the shock mounts, so I can avoid having to borrow a car to run to the hardware store the day of?

Thank you, in advance, to all who take the time to chime in.

-Shane

P.S. No need to promote Kolak for any parts I need. I stalked you all long enough to know he's the guy to go through - first order already made with him and he's everything you all reported him to be and more. He gets extra credit points for responding to my email order and random questions at 11pm PST. Let's see 4WheelParts or Summit Racing do that!!!
