Oh man...
So I was driving on the highway when I noticed some odd noises from the engine bay. Suddenly lost power steering and heard something go flying. Luckily we managed to pull over in a school parking lot about two blocks away. Engine temp was at max and coolant was leaking from the tank somewhere. $400 tow later and the 'ol girl is safe back home. But Jesus that was not fun.
Anyway, check out what happened to the water pump pulley. The fan clutch nut tore the center metal right off from the pulley. Water pump was an absolute ***** to remove since the fan was permanently attached to it.
I've tried pretty much everything to get it off but no luck so far. Thinking I'll just get a replacement from the junkyard unless anyone else has some suggestions. New pulley alone is $60 from the dealership. Just lovely. Will doing a compression test on the engine give me an idea if anything waa damaged from overheating?
