My old 2003 JGC was a five speed with the Overdrive. When towing my boat I could press a button and lock out the Overdrive to save the tranny from shifting all the time, risking burnout.
I recently bought a 2015 JGC Limited with an 8 speed transmission - with paddle shifters for those so inclined. I am content to leave the Jeep on Automatic. But I am concerned about what I should do, if anything, when towing my 16 foot boat once a year to Minnesota. The trip is mostly Interstate. With the stuff we throw in the boat, I am probably pulling 2000 lbs. Don't want to jeopardize the tranny.

What Gear or Should I Care?
