2002 Grand Cherokee Limited. How A/C air and pressure on the low side.

dimanche 16 août 2015

Okay I need to some advice. I am not a specialist by any means regarding A/C systems. So I am going to try and say what I see and what is happening to save time.

1. A/C is on MAX and the air is VERY VERY hot coming out of the vents.

2. Low side pressure with the cheapo hose is 45psi when the compressor engages. Drops below 25psi in the white area of the gauge when the compressor cycles off.

3. When I bought the Jeep and got it home I turned on the A/C and it must have been way over pressure because the compressor would cycle on and when it did the pressure relief would blow out refrigerant and the it would cycle off and it would do it again when it cycles on again.

4. I have not touched a line or canister that has been cold to the touch at any time during this process.

5. The excess pressure has been relieved because it started blowing off from the relief valve.

Since it is obviously making it to the compressor and it is not staying engaged does that mean the Pressure switch is faulty or just gone and needs replacing? It seems the refrigerant is not making it past the compressor, which will not stay on as it should.

I hope I have been clear in my explanation and it seems this is not a major issue and I am not experienced enough in this area as I cannot figure it out on my own.
