....deep into day 2 of header install, along with rms and other stuff...
I had the typical cracked stock header at the main intersection, got an APN to replace it.
It took me about an hour of fiddling with it to realize why the intake would not sit flush against the block- the new APN header downtubes at 2 and 6 were hitting the bottom of the manifold!!
I saw others had this problem recently and how they dealt with it.
I took a grinder and chewed away as much of the underside of the intake as I felt comfortable, but still had to heat up and beat in the downtube on 2 to be able to let the intake sit flush. What a nightmare! There was NO WAY in poop that the intake would have mated with the tube the way it was. I probably caved in the header pipe enough to restrict 20% of the area, but I couldn't figure out what else to do....
has APN let their tolerances slip or what?
