Unknown clutch problem

So I just bought a 2000 TJ and am having concerns about the clutch. Although I have owned a jeep before this is my first manual version. My issue is this: there is a lot of play in my clutch pedal. Although it does engage and disengage the clutch good it doesn't seem to release all the way out. I have short legs and it seems that I still have to push the pedal all the way down just to engage it. Just concerned I need to replace the master and slave cylinder. Any thoughts.
