ECM reset?

jeudi 23 juillet 2015

I have an '85 CJ7, which I swapped in a 4.0L from a '98 TJ. My problem is there is an uncapped vacuum line on the outside of the intake manifold (it's in the center, and L shaped with the open port facing forward). This port screams like crazy when the Jeep's running, and sucking air like a fat kid running sprints. When I plug this port, the motor dies. It acts like this is the sole source on air to the intake. I read somewhere that the fix is to reset the ECM, but those same info sources also reference touching the positive cable to the negative terminal and doing a song and dance with the headlights and such. Is all that necessary? I know my ECM has no connection to my headlights...

What do you all think? Will disconnecting the positive cable for a bit suffice?
