Need help with front oil seal!

Just curious, i have started my rebuild(complete) and im going to put the timing cover back on. No on the Front oil Seal that goes on the crank and balancer, Which way do i put it in? open end towards the motor, or open end toawrds the inside of the timing cover/facing balancer?
