When you buy a Cherokee, make sure you inspect the coolant. People are filling their Jeeps with stop leak to cover cracked heads/head gaskets. This will run you anywhere from $400-$1,500 if one of both are bad. It will mess with your heater core, and just leave a heap load of work for you. The years that typically have cracked heads/head gaskets are 99-01. So look out, don't run into the same situation I did.
