Water in my dana 35

So I keep finding muddy brown gross oil in my diff. I'm think it's coming from my breather thing. I've heard you can run it up so water doesn't get in there? I have a 94 yj and was wondering where you guys have placed it or if it even matters where I put it as long as puddle water can't reach it. Thanks
